GREEN DOLLAR SAVINGS FOR A “GREEN” UNIVERSE!

ATTENTION!

Due to the large increase in raw goods and energy costs, we at Clear Fold Door, Inc. believe it is necessary to highlight how heating bills are consuming hard earned profits and offer a solution.

In the early 1980's James J. Hohman of B.F. Goodrich Co. developed a formula to determine the cost of heat loss to counter the natural gas shortage.

Use this formula to calculate the money lost due to the high cost of heating fuel(s) that are robbing profits, or on a positive side the potential dollars saved:

First consider an 8' x 10' doorway staying open 100% of the time. Then we will look at the possible cost savings by installing a high-speed barrier.

Consider striving to maintain a nominal operating temperature to produce a clean car, with a temperature difference of 35° inside to outside. Consider a door being open 100% of the time, a 10 MPH wind and with a door opening size of 8’0” wide x 10’0” high, heating with fuel oil at a cost of $.80 per/gal. (in 1980's) The per hour cost of heat loss calculateded out to be about $ 16.00 per hour.

Now let’s look at the above formula in terms of a typical car wash. Consider a tunnel wash on a high volume day putting out a car on average every 120 seconds. Also consider that it takes only 12-15 seconds for that car to clear the exit door. With a high-speed barrier fast enough to operate on every vehicle (a Clear Fold Door will clear a 10' opening in less that 1 second) and the help of a calculator, an operator can easily arrive at the conclusion that he can have his opening covered approximately 85% of the time.

This would calculate to a sizable heat savings of approximately $13.00 per hour (80 +% of $16.00) not to mention downtime due to “freeze-ups”, and provide a more comfortable working environment, and a more cordial employee.

NOW THE KICKER! ----- The above fuel pricing was used in the early 1980's. NOW the cost of 1 gallon heating oil is approximately $2.00 to $2.50 per gal. This results in even greater lost revenue. It really does not matter what type of fuel is used, it’s all on the rise, the BTU/hr costs are the criteria. Fuel oil was used in the original formula at the time of the first natural gas "shortage" in the 80's. Doesn't that sound familiar?

NOW CONSIDER THE ABOVE USING THE COST OF FUEL AT TODAY’S PRICES.
